This in-person Embroidery + Typography workshop will take place in BROOKLYN at Artist & Craftsman Supply on Saturday September 30th. It will be a four (4) hour session and it will be run in English.

This workshop is a joint effort and part of an exciting collaboration with type designer Christopher Caldwell.
The workshop is limited to 10 people so we can guarantee a more personalized experience. This will be a first come first serve basis but if there is enough demand I will definitely open another group.
The goal for this workshop is for participants to understand the technical aspects of hand embroidery on paper so they can mix with typography and make it into a textural and dimensional element.
In this workshop, we will go over a variety of basic stitches and participants will develop a sampler on paper. They will have the opportunity to experiment with different paper qualities and weights.
Once they have had the chance to practice these stitches, they will choose characters and a word that they would like to work on. We will take them through grids, how to use them, and the process of punching holes for the embroidery to begin.
The idea for the workshop is for participants to learn stitches, get comfortable with color, and start a type embroidery project that they can take home with them to finish.
No prior embroidery experience is needed to take this workshop.
